TOM ALAN - also writes as JEREMY DEAN
I've spent 40 years teaching primary and secondary children in the UK, Kuwait, Japan and Spain. I've always dabbled with writing, but it was my move to teach in an 'immersion' school in Spain that led to my first book.
Writing as JEREMY DEAN:
Zen Kyu Maestro: An English Teacher's Spanish Adventure (2013 Monday Books) is a compilation (and extension) of articles I wrote for the Times Educational Supplement describing my life as an expat teaching Spanish junior children, in English, in Spain. It was followed by a sequel, Cucarachas or Cucuruchos (2019).
I'm now approaching retirement from teaching and intend to spend more time writing...
Writing as TOM ALAN:
Having written in the 'memoir' style, I fancied attempting fiction: as we say to the children, a story with a beginning, a middle and an end. Hitting the Jackpot published by Bloodhound Books 2023.
