What they're saying about
  HITTING TH£ JACKPOT:

From Goodreads/Amazon:

A gem... Nicely crafted, funny and reflective. 5*

A fast paced, exciting read... Well written and highly recommended... really enjoyed the twist towards the end of the book. 5*

I absolutely loved this book... This novel kept me amused the whole way through with the antics of Jack and there were some great characters popping in to complicate his dilemma along the way. I shall be following this author and waiting for his next offering. 5*

Delectable debut novel by Tom Alan(alias). A tale of Jack who teaches English as a second language to foreigners living in London. There are many humorous moments as Jack tries to explain the meaning of English idioms to his students. I laughed out loud many times. I can't remember the last time a book led me to laugh before this one. 5*
Jack teaches English and some of the best parts of the book are his lessons with an eclectic mix of foreign students. Who couldn’t love Puerto Rican Maria who is a teacher’s dream with her desire to get everything right!
This book has a bit of everything: great characters, misunderstandings, humour, twists and turns, and romance. It is a light and enjoyable read. Looking for a book for the summer holidays? Hitting the Jackpot is for you! 5*

...a story that had me smiling! 5*

...a loveable, hapless lead character. You can’t help but root for Jack! 5*

I really enjoyed reading this book. A great story and an interesting concept, it had me thinking who I would tell if I won the lottery! 5*

I enjoyed this book very much, a rom-com but with twists and turns. It was well written with good characters, and I read it in no time as I wanted to find out what happened next! 5*

Lighthearted, fun, easy-to-read book, had me laughing out loud at times. Recommended if you want something not too heavy for your holiday reading. 5*

I really enjoyed this book. So true to life, you could actually believe it happened, the characters were brilliant 🤩 and the story line great. Couldn’t put it down. Well done Tom… we need more 😝xx 5*

I really enjoyed this book. It was funny and twisted more than I expected. Loved the main characters who were really well written. The twist at the end was very unexpected and very very funny. Would highly recommend as a funny light read. 5*

This book was laugh out loud funny and having a father who is from another country, I could relate to Maria from the stories my dad tells me about learning American phrases and the hilarious situations that would ensue.
I loved every minute of this book and would definitely read more by this author. 5*

Oh what a gorgeous, quick and easy read. This would make a brilliant quick summer read - It was lots of fun and super light-hearted.
The characters were brilliant - even down to the "pupils" that Jack taught. Such a diverse and relatable set with lots of banter and comedy moments.
There were lots of little twists and turns in the storylines that I wasn't always expecting which held my interest and made this feel almost like I was watching my favourite sitcom. But we come to a fun and satisfying conclusion.
A really enjoyable and fun read. 4*

This was such a pleasant read and a bit of a breath of fresh air.
This book was pretty comical, with Jack being an English teacher to foreign students, it was fun to see some of the ways that they mispronounce phrases and words (whores moaning instead of hormones actually made me laugh out loud) and made the book even funnier.
For a debut novel, this was extremely good and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something light hearted. I will be looking for more of Tom Alan’s books in the future. ...such a great debut. 4*

Pure escapism. I love all the references to Jane Austen's works. It'll have you shouting one minute and laughing out loud the next. There are plenty of twists and secrets in this book. Kept me hooked till the end. Great read. 4*

Such a fun read, with relatable characters & story. We’ve all had those daydreams of what we’d do if we won the lottery…and all had those “just couldn’t make it up” days. Highly recommend this book. 4*

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as there were lots of laugh out loud moments. When Jack’s numbers come up on the lottery he realises that it’s going to be difficult to keep this from his soon to be ex-wife Cindy and in trying to do so mayhem ensues!
When Jack meets Milly it looks like he has hit the jackpot again but in the words of The Beatles song it becomes apparent that, Money Can’t Buy You Love.
There are some wonderful characters in this book and definitely a moral in the tale, not to mention a fantastic twist in the tale too! 4*

I really enjoyed this rom com, it was a really nice easy read with some interesting twists and turns and a great selection of characters. 4*

Laugh out loud, escapism romance

...a great read, there's comedy, romance, secrets, everything u need in a book. What would u do if you won the lottery? I liked it. The characters are funny and relatable. I loved the references to Jane Austen's works and Jack's appreciation for the romance genre. He's a loveable character. Well worth the read. Laugh out loud moments in the book. Highly recommend. 4*

I enjoyed this book. A light-hearted, fun-filled book that kept you entertained. 4*

This was such a quick, fun read. It would be great for a holiday read.  ...This was such a quick, fun read. It would be great for a holiday read.  Jack teaches adults English as a second language and the accounts of the students and the lessons are laugh out loud funny. I could picture the narrative in the author's voice which was even more amusing. A lighthearted, feelgood read. 4*

This is a charming story that should keep most romance fans happy - Jack is a loveable dork, Milly his love interest has a heart of gold, and Cindy his ex makes a great villain. 3*

This book was really fun. (It) takes us on a rollercoaster of trials and tribulations following the night of the lotto draw. I loved seeing how Jack reacted, and how the win affected him and those around him. There are some great side characters, and I thought the way that Alan weaves them into the resolve of the story was clever. I was gripped with wanting to know the outcome of the plot. The outcome to this book was brilliant. I can tell that Alan planned this book meticulously before writing it, and I enjoyed it immensely. I would recommend this as an easy read (loved the short chapters), and for some light-hearted enjoyable entertainment. 3*

From Amazon Reviews:

I could pick a quote from any page to illustrate the author's potential as a stand-up… I actually wish I could be a seven-year-old-kid in one of his lessons. If only for a day.
